Jessica Phyllis Lange is an American actress who has worked in film, theater and television. The recipient of several awards, including two Oscars, three Emmys, five Golden Globes, one SAG Award and three Dorian Awards, Lange is widely considered to be one of the greatest actors of her generation.
In 18th century Scotland, Robert Roy MacGregor (Liam Neeson) is the head of a proud Highlands clan that herds cattle. Rob takes a one thousand pound loan from the Marquis of Montrose (John Hurt) to feed his people through the upcoming winter -- before his friend MacDonald (Eric Stoltz) can return with the money, he is murdered by swordsman Archibald Cunningham (Tim Roth). Rob is forced to go on the run and eventually confronts Cunningham after he rapes his wife (Jessica Lange).

Institutionalized, Farmer is abused by patients and staff alike. Following her release, Farmer hosts a local Indianapolis TV show until her death in 1970.
New York actor Michael Dorsey (Dustin Hoffman) is a talented perfectionist who is so hard on himself and others that his agent (Sydney Pollack) can no longer find work for him. When a research ship is sent to explore an island thought to be rich in oil, paleontologist Jack Prescott (Jeff Bridges) sneaks aboard, having heard strange rumors about the island. "American Horror Story" was created by the co-creators of "Glee," but the shows have little in common besides that.
